We miss travellers and we’ve heard that they miss us too. We love being part of the get-ready-to-go checklist, which usually includes:
- Book Trip
- Buy Insurance
- Pack
- Order Red Car
- Grab Passport
- Purchase Currency at Global Currency Services
- And soon adding:
Get vaccinated
Travel vaccines are not new. For example, travellers going to:
- Africa require vaccines including hepatitis A, hepatitis B, yellow fever and rabies.
- India require vaccines including polio, cholera, and typhoid.
- China requires vaccines for measles, mumps and rubella, Tdap, and shingles.
Amid the outcry about compulsory mask wearing, we can just imagine how travellers will feel about having to prove vaccination against COVID-19. Given the hurdles facing Canada in acquiring and distributing the COVID-19 vaccine, it would be impossible to currently enforce mandatory pre-travel vaccinations, but it’s something that may affect future travel (Pitrelli, 2021).
Current travel restrictions differ by country, but many measures include:
- Mandatory quarantine (up to 21 days)
- Proof of negative COVID-19 test
- Registering with national system
- Signing an agreement for future testing
- Complying with mandatory quarantine hotel stay.
Many countries put the onus on the traveller to pay for their enhanced measures.
Like most avid travellers, our staff can’t wait to travel abroad. Many of our team members have immigrated to Canada from other countries, and they are anxiously waiting to see their international families again. We look forward to helping you with your future currency needs. If you have any questions, we are always happy to help. Please contact us here.
